Fennel

My new range in porcelain rather than stoneware. Fennel has the most beautiful frothy flowers and I took some lovely photos of a plant in France a few years back. However, it also has an acid yellow flower, which even if I could reproduce the colour, probably wouldn't be to most people's taste. So this new range is made just in white, using wax resist painted on to the dry pot. This is then sponged with a damp sponge removing the clay around the design, but leaving the areas protected by the wax. The result is a thin, slightly distorted vessel with a raised design. It works particularly well as a lampshade as the light glows through. It looks best unglazed so I have only glazed the insides and bits that come into contact with food/liquid.
